Empi

  1. Begin in Junbi (ready) stance.  Bring your right foot to your left foot while chambering your left hand, palm open facing your body and your right fist against your left palm, fingers toward body (right hand in vertical punch position).

  2. Continue looking forward while stepping outward to the left with your left foot and immediately kneeling on your right knee while executing a right hand low block with the left hand executing a cross body punch and resting against the upper right arm.

  3. While still looking forward, stand back up into a horse stance and chamber both hands on the left hip, ball-and-socket fashion (left fist palm up and right fist palm down with right fist above left fist).

  4. Without stepping, turn 90 degrees to the right and execute a right hand low block into a front stance.

  5. Look left 90 degrees (back to the front) and pivot back into a horse stance while chambering the right fist and executing a left hand cross body punch.

  6. Step forward with the left foot and execute a left hand low block into a front stance.

  7. Execute a right hand rising punch to the opponents forehead while chambering left fist.

  8. Open right hand and re-close it (grabbing your opponent). Step forward and land in a low crouch with the left foot landing crossed behind the right. At the same time, pull your right fist into your left upper arm while your left fist punches down into the opponents lower abdomen.

  9. Step back with the left foot into a deep back stance while slowly executing a right hand low block.

  10. Turn 180 degrees to the left and execute a left hand low block into a front stance.

  11. Execute a right hand rising  punch to the opponents forehead while chambering left fist.

  12. Open right hand and re-close it (grabbing your opponent). Step forward and land in a low crouch with the left foot landing crossed behind the right. At the same time, pull your right fist into your left upper arm while your left fist punches down into the opponents lower abdomen.

  13. Step back with the left foot into a deep back stance while slowly executing a right hand low block.

  14. Turn 180 degrees to the left and execute a left hand low block into a front stance.

  15. Bring the left hand up into a vertical chop position with the left arm angling at about 45 degrees to the right. Bring your left knee up under your left elbow and slowing arc both left hand and left leg to the left, placing left foot so you are in a horse stance and left arm in a vertical chop position in front of you. Bring right foot behind left knee while striking left palm with the inside of your right elbow.  KIAI.

  16. Slide the right foot back out into a horse stance while executing a left knife-hand block and chambering right hand.

  17. Execute a right hand reverse punch to the solar plexus followed by a left hand reverse punch to the solar plexus.

  18. Look to the left and step 90 degrees to the left into a front stance while executing a left hand low block. 

  19. Execute a right hand rising punch to the opponents forehead while chambering left fist.

  20. Step forward with the right foot into a back stance and execute a right hand reinforced center chop.

  21. Bring the right foot back to the left foot and then step forward with the left foot into a back stance and execute a left hand reinforced center chop.

  22. Execute a right hand reverse punch to the solar plexus into a front stance.

  23. Step forward with the right foot into a back stance and execute a right hand reinforced center chop.

  24. Look behind you and turn 180 degrees to the left into a front stance while executing a left hand low block.

  25. Execute a right hand rising punch to the opponents forehead while chambering left fist.

  26. Open right hand and re-close it (grabbing your opponent). Step forward and land in a low crouch with the left foot landing crossed behind the right. At the same time, pull your right fist into your left upper arm while your left fist punches down into the opponents lower abdomen.

  27. Step back with the left foot into a deep back stance while slowly executing a right hand low block.

  28. Turn 180 degrees to the left and execute a left hand low block into a front stance.

  29. Look 90 degrees to the right.  Chamber the left fist while pushing the open right hand 90 degrees to the right (where you are looking), first downward and then upward into a middle level block, palm up.

  30. Step 90 degrees to the right with your right foot into a front stance while swinging both arms into large circular motions (both counter-clockwise), ending in an upward pushing open hand block with the left hand and a downward open hand pushing block with the right hand.

  31. Step forward with left foot into a front stance while changing positions of your hands (moving in large clockwise circles) ending in an upward pushing open hand block with the right hand and a downward open hand block with your left hand.

  32. Step forward with right foot into a front stance while changing positions of your hands (moving in large counter-clockwise circles) ending in an upward pushing open hand block with the left hand and a downward open hand block with your right hand.

  33. Lunge slightly backward and execute a right hand low block into a back stance.

  34. Reach forward with both hands out in front of you, left hand just above forehead level and right hand about waist level (as if grabbing a vertical pipe).

  35. Leap backward while turning 360 degrees in the air and lifting both feet as high as possible, landing with both feet at the same time in a right foot forward back stance and executing a right hand knife-hand block.  KIAI.

  36. Step back with your right foot into a back stance and execute a left knife-hand block.

  37. Slide the left foot back to your right foot and assume the kata's ready position.  Both hands on left hip, right fist in left palm.

Note: This kata contains some new moves and is difficult to do if you haven't seen it before. See your instructor for the proper execution of these moves.
