Fort Yargo State Park - 07/21/09
This was our 8th "Muddy Spokes Club" bicycle ride. The park is located just south of Winder, so it's not too far away...took us about an hour and 15 minutes. It's supposed to be 12 miles, but we took a wrong turn and had to backtrack, so it was actually 13 miles for us. The course is rated as "Hard" for the "Muddy Spokes Club" and I would say that is accurate. There aren't any terrible climbs, but there are lots of them and there's a lot going on. Places where you have to get skinny to get through, lots of roots, lots of curves...basically 12 miles of work for a novice like me. Click here for a few photos.
In fairness to the people who developed the trails, the outer loop that they told us we had to do for the "Muddy Spokes Club" is not designated as a beginner trail. They do have a beginner trail though and it's supposed to be a little less challenging. When I make it back here, I'll probably stick with the beginner trail and maybe try out the Disc Golf course.
