Magnolia Springs State Park - 06/19/09
This park was our second State Park of the day after our 4-hour adventure at George L. Smith State Park. The two parks are only 30 minutes apart. It was a nice, relaxed paddle around the perimeter of a 28-acre lake. You'll need to stop by the office to rent the canoe ($4 for an hour) and pick up your paddles and life jackets. It's a 2-minute drive back to the lake from there. Afterwards, you'll also want to stop by and look at the spring, which produces 7-9 million gallons of water per day. They say you can see alligators around the spring, but I didn't see any. I did see lots of turtles. You can also bring your bikes and meet one of the requirements of the "Muddy Spokes Club". I have posted a few pictures here.
