Red Top Mountain State Park - 07/10/09

We visited this park to meet one of the requirements of the "Muddy Spokes Club". As long as you avoid the rush hours, you can get there in about an hour. The mountain bike ride is on the 3.9-mile Iron Hill Trail. This is one of my favorite rides so far. We enjoyed it so much, we did it a second time. It's on a gravel covered surface, but not so much gravel that you can't get good traction. The trail is about as wide as a car, so there's plenty of room. There is just enough up and down to make it interesting with no big uphill sections and the scenery is great with views of Lake Allatoona through many stretches of the trail. You will probably have some company on this trail. We saw a couple dozen people, most of them walking, so be careful on this trail.
