One-Steps
DANGER! Do not attempt
these techniques until you have been shown how to do them safely by an
instructor!
All One-Steps are done with two people facing each other in
Junbi stance. One person (usually the lower belt) begins by going into a
fighting stance and doing a KIAI. When the other person is ready, he will do a
KIAI. The attacker will then step forward and do a reverse punch to the nose
(except on 5, 10 & 15 where a stepping front kick is done instead), followed
by a KIAI. The One-Step will then be done, always finishing with a KIAI. Both
people go back into Junbi stance. The exact procedure is repeated with each
person switching roles. This process goes back and forth until all the required
One-Steps are completed by both persons.
Notice that One-Steps 1-10 all begin with two defensive moves
(getting out of the way and executing a block) followed by offensive techniques.
