Phase Kicks
Our Karate Kicks become Phase Kicks when we execute them while doing various jumping techniques with the kicks. We normally do them with front kicks, but they can be done with other kicks as well.
Phase 1
From a fighting stance, you jump into the air with both feet and execute the kick with your front foot. The rear foot is tucked under the body as the kick is executed. KIAI.
Phase 2
From a fighting stance, you jump into the air while switching feet in the air and kicking with the foot that was originally in the rear, but is now in the front. KIAI.
Phase 3
From a fighting stance, you step forward with the rear foot like you were cocking your leg for a stepping front kick. While the rear foot is pulling you up, you jump with the front leg and execute the kick with your front leg. KIAI.
Phase 4
From a fighting stance, you slide your rear foot up to your front foot. You then cock your front leg like you were cocking it for a standing front kick. As your front leg cocks and pulls you slightly upward, you jump and kick with the leg that was originally in the rear. KIAI.
Phase 5
From a fighting stance, you cross your feet below the knees without turning your body in any way. You then bring your foot that was originally in the front up like you were cocking your leg for a standing front kick. As your front leg cocks and pulls you slightly upward, you jump and kick with the leg that was originally in the rear. KIAI.
