Sweetwater Creek State Park - 06/05/09

This was my first visit to Sweetwater Creek State Park. We went by the Visitor's Center and bought our "Park Paddlers Club" cards ($10 each). We then drove over to the bait shop and rented a canoe ($5 for an hour). From there, we paddled our way around the 3-mile trail on the park's 200+ acre lake. It took us slightly over an hour. Even though we did this in the morning and the temperature was in the 70s, we worked up quite a sweat. From there, it was back to the Visitor's Center to get our cards punched. Since it was just around noon and I had taken the whole day off, we decided to hike one of the trails. We did the 3-mile Yellow Trail. The first part of it is mostly flat while it runs parallel with Sweetwater Creek (I'm not sure what the technical definition of a creek is, but this is the biggest "creek" I've ever seen). Further into the hike though, you run into a very challenging loop with some tough uphill and downhill sections. This took us about 75 minutes and we decided we had enough exercise for one day.
